ARCHIVE
Retained is an ongoing practice. Discarded cardboard is gathered, studied, and rebuilt into ceremonial blade forms. The work is organized into series, each defined by where its material came from and what it carried with it.
Series I developed the blade-and-scabbard forms. Series II works from family, domestic, and classroom cardboard, with the history of each piece of material documented. Series III works with dormant cardboard, rediscovered after years of sitting unused.
The Archive is the record of this practice: the series, the individual works, and the material histories behind them. It grows as new material is found and retained.
Series I: Early Forms
Series II: Lived Cardboard
Series III: Latent Cardboard
